About us

The ARI (Associação Religiosa Israelita) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a modern synagogue aligned with Reform and Conservative movements. The ARI was founded in 1942 by German Jewish immigrants and has developed to be the largest Jewish Congregation in Rio already in the 1980s, including Jews of various origins. The ARI is today a very active congregation both in religious, cultural and social activities.

The ARI is housed in a beautiful building in south area of Rio de Janeiro (Botafogo). The Kabbalat Shabbat services begin at 7pm, after a one-hour Come-together at the Synagogue Hall with coffee and cake.
